Overview
The concept is simple but the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, toddler, or preschooler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten. Does this sound hard? It isn’t really, if you think about it. If you read just one book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. If you consider most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think!
This self-directed and self-paced program is ongoing. Pick up your paper log at the children's desk in the library or complete the program using Beanstack. The program is for children from birth up until when they enter kindergarten.

- When you finish each 100 books you can come to the library to get a sticker and a new log sheet!
- Every few hundred books there is a special prize: a button or magnet after 300 books, a free book after 500 books, a button or magnet after 800 books. and a Ready for Kindergarten backpack and completion certificate when you have logged 1,000 books!
